> Who can have an API key, where to make one, and how to send it with a call.

## Who can have one

Members and the people an organization gives a seat to, and anyone on a free trial, with a smaller allowance of calls. The free plan has no key.

## Making one

- Open [Account › API](https://wiseview.ai/manage/account/api), name the key after what will use it, and make it.
- The key is shown **once** — it starts with `wv_live_`. Copy it somewhere safe: WiseView keeps only a scrambled copy (a hash) and cannot show it again.
- Each key lists when it was last used. Revoke one on the same page and the next call with it is refused.

## Sending it

Every call carries the key in one header: `Authorization: Bearer <your key>`.

Header:

```
Authorization: Bearer $WISEVIEW_API_KEY
```

> Never put a key in an address. Addresses end up in logs, browser history and screenshots, so a call with a key in its address is refused rather than answered.
