Keys

Who can have an API key, where to make one, and how to send it with a call.

Who can have one

Members and the people an organization gives a seat to, and anyone on a free trial, with a smaller allowance of calls. The free plan has no key.

Making one

  • Open Account › API, name the key after what will use it, and make it.
  • The key is shown once — it starts with wv_live_. Copy it somewhere safe: WiseView keeps only a scrambled copy (a hash) and cannot show it again.
  • Each key lists when it was last used. Revoke one on the same page and the next call with it is refused.

Sending it

Every call carries the key in one header: Authorization: Bearer <your key>.

Header
Authorization: Bearer $WISEVIEW_API_KEY

Never put a key in an address. Addresses end up in logs, browser history and screenshots, so a call with a key in its address is refused rather than answered.
