The pre-market board
What the morning board shows, how to read a row, and how its results are measured.
What it is
Each trading morning, before the open, WiseView builds a board of the stocks moving before the bell and the reason each one is moving. It opens in the PM panel (Pre-Market Board) and comes with a membership and the free trial.
Until the morning’s board is built the panel says when the first pass lands. On a day the market is closed there is no board, and the panel says so.
How it is laid out
- Watching — not a buy at the open
- The names in play. It is not a ranking: they are listed by dollars traded before the board was built, most first, then by the size of the gap.
- Earnings — Reporting today
- Companies reporting results today. The heading, and each row’s catalyst, say whether they report before the open or after the close.
- Radar — From this morning’s news
- Names a search of this morning’s market news turned up. They carry no score and are not held to the board’s size floor — a name to look at, not a pick.
Before 9:30 a price on the board is the last pre-market trade — not an entry price.
Reading a row
A row shows the ticker, price, previous close, the day’s move, the move since the open, market cap and the catalyst. More columns can be switched on — the score, the open, the pre-market high, the day’s high and low, volume, relative volume and the prior day’s high among them.
Open a row for the detail: our take, the catalyst, and levels to compare the price with after 9:30 — the previous close, the pre-market range and the prior day’s high. They are reference levels, not entry or exit prices. From there you can open the company, make an AI report or add it to a watchlist.
How it is graded
- Board results shows the finished session, measured from the 9:30 open to the 4:00 close only. “Closed above the open” counts the names that ended above their 9:30 open, out of those that moved — a flat one is left out.
- Track record, under Reference › Evidence, counts how often the board’s top-scored names closed above their 9:30 open. It appears once enough names have been graded, and says so itself: a top score is not a buy signal.
