HootAI and AI credits

What the assistant can do on your desk, what costs AI credits, and where your balance lives.

What HootAI does

HootAI is the chat that can see your desk — the AI panel (HootAI), or A. It looks up quotes, company profiles, financials, news, insider and Congress trades, earnings call transcripts and charts, searches the web, and manages your watchlists. It can also act on the desk: move the ticker, open a panel, or run a screen.

  • What it knows is explicit: the Reading row above the message box shows what it will be told, and a panel, a highlight or a file is attached deliberately, never assumed.
  • Highlight text in any panel and a bubble offers to explain it.
  • ⌘ \ splits a second conversation beside the first, and ⌘ Shift O lifts the panel into its own window, conversation and all.

AI credits

HootAI questions, research reports, earnings transcript pulls, screener searches and a day of the squawk are paid for in AI credits. The price is on the send arrow, and in the credits panel.

  • A question to HootAI is three credits, an earnings-transcript pull four, and a research report thirty-five.
  • A membership includes 500 AI credits each month — roughly 160 questions, or a dozen reports.
  • A free trial starts with 100 credits, once.
  • The free plan comes with 30 a month.
  • Included credits come back each billing month and do not roll over. Credits you buy never expire.

Your balance, and running out

The credit meter in the header opens the credits panel: your balance, what each thing costs, the packs and your history.

When something needs more than you have, a window says what was refused and what it costs. Members can buy a pack there. During a free trial no packs are sold — the window offers the membership instead — and the free plan is offered the membership too.
